These new MacBook Pro (14 and 16 inches) would be powered by an Apple M1X chip, faster than the M1 SoCs of the MacBook Pro 13 and Air currently available. Enough to portend an imminent announcement, probably in September. However, we learned last week that their production would have (finally) begun. Initially expected on WWDC 2021, they seem to have been pushed back following worries about supply chains. MacBook Pro M1X, finally?Īs we know, Apple has two new MacBook Pro under its elbow.

As a reminder, the current iPad 8 relies on an A12 Bionic chip (that of the iPhone Xs). The “classic” iPad 9 is, for its part, still quite mysterious, but it should also enjoy a thinner chassis (with a screen potentially rid of its ugly borders) and a faster processor. Its design would be close to that used by the iPad Air 2020 but with a significantly more compact chassis. In it, we should find an Apple 15 Bionic chip (the same as on the iPhone 13), as well as a MagSafe magnetic charging connector and a USB-C port. According to Mark Gurman, the iPad Mini 6 is destined “to become a favourite of Apple fans thanks to its thinner edges and complete redesign”. Both would replace the current models respectively launched in 20, but with a unique design. Apple’s game-development focused API Metal is learning some new tricks, including upscaling and faster resource loading. There would be new on the field of tablets, too, with the supposed presence of two new iPads: an iPad Mini 6 and an iPad 9.Safari will now be able to use “passkeys” instead of passwords - a system built along with Google and Microsoft to allow you to log in to websites and apps with biometrics (like fingerprint sensors or facial recognition) without any text-based passwords in the mix.

Its got a 13.6″ liquid retina display, TouchID built into the keyboard and MagSafe support. With everyone video calling more than ever, Apple took the time to call out the MacBook Air’s built-in camera, promising twice the resolution (at 1080p) and much improved low-light performance. New MacBook Airs and Pros! They’re ditching the Air’s signature cheese-wedge shape, opting for a more standard flat design - albeit one that comes in at just 11.3 mm thick. Apple says the M2 CPU is 18% faster than that of the M1, while the GPU is 35% faster. Apple shook up the industry with the introduction of its bespoke M1 chipset, which combined ridiculous performance with wild power efficiency - it’s remarkably fast, yet somehow your laptop’s battery will still last all day.
